SB833 (Bowen)

Unsolicited advertising faxes

SBACC Position: SUPPORT

After eight months of OPPOSING SB 833 (Bowen) SBACC is now SUPPORTING SB 833 (Bowen) after it was amended on September 1, 2005.

SBACC acknowledges that fax advertisements and junk faxes are burdensome.  On the other hand, SBACC maintains the position that non-profit organizations should be able to use faxes as an avenue of communication to its membership.

SBACC and its membership strongly believe that exempting non-profits from SB 833 will enable those organizations to communicate effectively and freely. Senator Bowen acknowledged the concerns of SBACC and amended SB 833 to exempt non-profit organizations.
